Africa's plastic crisis is accelerating
—and the current system can't keep up.
Global plastic waste is projected to triple by 2060, with the largest increases expected in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Yet less than 10% of all plastic is currently recycled.
But the problem isn't lack of effort. It's a lack of infrastructure.
Current challenges
Community challenges
Communities don't have access to reliable collection points, and waste pickers work hard but face unfair pay, unreliable buyers, and dangerous conditions.
Lack of consistency
Recyclers struggle with fragmented supply, inconsistent quality, and volatile pricing.
Misaligned incentives
Everyone in the value chain operates independently with conflicting priorities. There's no system connecting supply to demand efficiently.
The gap isn't just environmental—it's economic. Waste that could create jobs and generate revenue is instead destroying ecosystems and limiting opportunity.

What we do
We're building the infrastructure that Africa's circular economy needs.

Reclaim creates a formalized reverse supply chain for recyclable materials—connecting waste pickers, small stores, and recyclers into a professional distribution network that delivers quality, quantity, and consistency.
How we do it
1
Site Identification
We identify strategic hub locations based on population density, consumption data (through partnerships like Pepsi), and access to three-phase electricity for baling equipment.
2
Recruitment & Training
We recruit and train waste pickers at each hub, providing them with equipment, fair wages, and pathways for professional growth. Each hub employs supervisors, sorters, tuk-tuk drivers, and collectors—creating dignified employment at scale.
3
Sorting & Baling
Materials are collected, sorted by type (PET, HDPE, LDPE, PP), and baled to meet recycler specifications. Our hubs process high volumes with consistent quality standards.
4
Strategic Partnerships
We develop long-term partnerships with recyclers (guaranteed supply) and corporates (ESG impact, brand partnerships, environmental credits). Everyone in our network benefits from transparent pricing, reliable delivery, and verified metrics.
